+++An open mind is like a fortress with its doors unbarren and unguarded+++
This is a recount of the opening of the Traitor offensive in the Corinthe Subsector, where the Heretical fleet of Wasmaster Camorr Magant laid siege to one of the most important Forge World of the Ultima Segmentus, the far flung Corinthe, bastion of light, after launching a wave of heretical fanatics from the occupied and once dead worlds of the Formund zone.
Unseen and undetected, the might of four full chapters of Chaos Space Marines, the Thousand Sons, the Death Guard, the World Eaters, and the Emperor's Children, infiltrated through the weak and unprepared imperial patrols in the subsector, and during more than 50 years, they built and populated the dead worlds situated in the Outer Rim, ready to open a new front in the fight against yet another Black Crusade.
Soon, the dead systems of Formund and Berian turned into well defended and provisioned fortresses. Pray and praise towards their dark lords allowed the Fallen Ones to store unprecented amounts of material, that was teleported through the Aethyr towards the closer edge to the Dominion of Storms. Slaves, mutants and heretics joined the effort, turning the materials into infrastructure. What were once ubarren worlds were reconstructed, and in an unknown span of time Formund and Berien turned into Hive and Forge worlds spewing corrupted war hardware into the space once more.
Berien and Formund rebuilt their abandoned and long forsaken shipyards, now able to build and repair even the biggest spaceships of the incoming Chaos Fleets. Warmaster Overlord Camorr Nagant waited, with unprecedented and devious patience from a Chaos worshipper, until his heinous foothold on the sub sector was complete. 50 years, took the heathens to prepare to their offensive, until the mass of the Lost and Damned in the area reached critical mass.
Once his preparations were complete, he decided to expand his dominions, taking an large amount of systems in a short campaign that eliminated quickly all the valiant monitors that patrolled them. Soon all the systems north of the unhabited Tisiphone Cluster were occupied and populated by the sinister brood of the Tainted Ones. There, they waited once more, waiting more reinforcements in the form of at least four Chaos Champions with full assault fleets incoming from a Warp Gate located in the rim of the Domina Nebulae.
The arrival of the Warfleet took Imperium of man almost entirely by surprise, unable to seize the proper resources from the nearby planets to mount a suitable line of defense. The Adeptus Mechanicus working at Corinthe felt threatened by the incoming chaos offensive, knowing that if their safety was at risk, the entire war production that fed the imperial effort against the Hive Fleets of the Tyranids to the south would be compromised.
Soon, the few navy assets nearby were called upon the defense of Corinthe and its buffer worlds. Imperial Guard regiments were moved into the nearby planets from Mordia, Ultramar and other planets willing to send conscript regiments. Few in numbers, but unmovable in purpose, the imperial troops prepared a virtual bunker near Corinthe, willing to resist until reinforcements from more populated regions arrived.
Inside the huge gas clouds of the Domina Nebulae, another threat for friend and foe alike was waiting. Untraceable pirates were coming, ready to prey into anything they could grab. And even in the long forsaken worlds of the Tisiphone Cluster, whose fate was to bear witness to the brunt of the fighting, another menace slightly opened its ancient, dormant and undying eye...
